Join Classic FM’s beloved presenter John Suchet on this Russian adventure that invites us to discover the man behind the music.

Born in Russia in 1840, Tchaikovsky revolutionised and reshaped the world of classical music with ballets that include The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, with operas such as Eugene Onegin and, of course, his monumental symphonies. Behind the glorious stories of his ballets and the soaring melodies he created, was a man who was deeply troubled. What’s more, there are still questions surrounding Tchaikovsky’s death – he died when he was just 53-years-old – and some experts even believe that he left a message for us in his final symphony.

From the renowned Bolshoi Theatre, where we have secured private access to the backstage areas, to the very location where the composer wrote The Nutcracker – go in search of the real Tchaikovsky alongside award-winning presenter, reporter and author John Suchet.

  • A visit to the Tchaikovsky Museum, where we will enjoy a private piano recital
  • Special backstage access at the historic Bolshoi Theatre
  • Two live evening performances
  • A guided tour of Moscow’s most iconic sights
