Michael King
Mike King’s career in museum curatorship has taken him from England to Scotland and finally to Northern Ireland, where he was Curator of Down County Museum for over 20 years. He holds three Master’s degrees: Early Medieval History from Cambridge University; Early Medieval Archaeology at Durham University and an MA in Museum Studies from Leicester University. Originally from Kent, one of Mike’s ambitions is to follow the route of the Via Francigena from his ‘home’ cathedral at Canterbury all the way to Rome. He has always been fascinated by the medieval monuments of Britain and Ireland and the artistic connections that link them and has a special interest in St Patrick and the work of early missionary saints in Ireland, Scotland and Europe.
