The Life and Death of Roman Canterbury
From $240
Summary
The story of Roman Canterbury, Durovernum Cantiacorum, is the story of a town that flourished for four centuries, but then collapsed as a functioning urban centre. Mass graves in its streets, in contravention of Roman law, suggest that something terrible happened to this once prosperous provincial town, possibly leading to its almost complete abandonment. And yet, life returned, and a new settlement was to rise from its ruins. Learn its story, and explore an archaeological mystery, with this study day on the Life and Death of Roman Canterbury.
