Summary
Poland’s story is one of resilience and reinvention, of kingdoms and partitions, of devastation and determined rebirth. Throughout this 8-day tour we discover how architecture, art and history reveal the complex story of Poland, a country repeatedly reshaped by conflict yet marked by an extraordinary capacity for renewal. We begin with three nights in Warsaw where we explore its meticulously recreated historic core, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From here we travel to Torun, a rare gem of intact medieval urbanism on the banks of the Vistula, whose soaring brick Gothic and Hanseatic merchant heritage speak of a city once at the heart of northern European commerce. We conclude with three nights in Gdansk, where the splendour of the Long Market gives way to the shipyards that ignited Solidarity, the movement that would ultimately bring down the Iron Curtain.
